MISTAKES TO AVOID WHEN DRINKING COFFEE!

Drinking coffee helps you stay awake and gives you energy to start your day. However, if you drink or prepare coffee incorrectly, it can affect your health.

Drinking coffee helps you stay alert and boosts your energy to start the day. However, if you drink or brew coffee incorrectly, it may negatively impact your health.

1. Adding sugar may lead to weight gain
Amy Goodson, author of the book Sports Nutrition, states that coffee beans increase your intake of many plant compounds and antioxidants.
Therefore, to enjoy a cup of coffee while keeping your sugar intake under control, consider adding low-fat milk with cream (for additional protein and nutrients) and a small amount of sugar substitute if desired.

2. Drinking too much coffee may cause acid reflux
Jamie Feit, an expert at Testing.com, notes that two main issues with coffee can work against you: caffeine and acidity.
Coffee is highly acidic and can exacerbate acid reflux.
Caffeine itself isn’t harmful unless it interferes with your sleep. Therefore, if you drink so much coffee that it affects your sleep quality, you may want to reconsider your morning cup.
Caffeinated beverages such as coffee, soda, and tea are known triggers for acid reflux, especially for individuals suffering from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

3. Sweetened condensed milk increases fat intake in coffee
Ricci-Lee Holtz, a nutrition expert at Testing.com, says that while coffee can be a great way to kickstart your day and provide energy, certain habits can make your daily cup of coffee counterproductive.
She explains that sweetened condensed milk can easily add extra calories and fat to your coffee, which may not be ideal for some people.
According to the American Heart Association, only 5% to 6% of your daily calories should come from saturated fat. For someone consuming a 2,000-calorie diet, that’s about 13 grams of saturated fat per day.
A typical coffee with sweetened condensed milk may contain about 1 to 2 grams of saturated fat per serving (usually 1 or 2 tablespoons), and adding more milk can raise the saturated fat content to up to 3 grams per tablespoon.

4. Brewing coffee with processed sugar
Megan Byrd, a nutrition expert from Oregon, notes that adding condensed milk and sugar to coffee is quite common.
However, using excessive amounts of processed sugar and artificial ingredients can negatively impact health and contribute to gut issues.

5. Excessive caffeine intake can cause side effects
Coffee contains caffeine, which may lead to insomnia, anxiety, restlessness, stomach upset, and nausea.
It can also cause headaches, irregular heartbeat, and other side effects.
It is recommended to limit your daily caffeine intake to 400 milligrams. Consuming more than this amount may result in adverse effects.
